What Kids Think of Some Careers
When it comes to career options, I noticed that children have many ideas already - doctor, teacher, nurse, fireman, policeman, businessman, real estate broker, nun, and even president of a particular country!
What amuses me very much is how they perceive these careers. Some have the right ideas while there are others who see the careers as simply a way to earn money. There is really nothing wrong with this notion per se. But it gives me the impression that the values that the children have been exposed to are more inclined to wealth acquisition rather than the nobleness of the profession.
Teachers must emphasize more how a job contributes to humanity. While in reality these jobs do give us income, it must be instilled in the young minds of the children that a doctor, a nurse, a teacher, a businessman makes the world a better place to live in.
